Radarisusedtoprovideinformationthatcanhelpyoutotrack
targetsandmeasuredistancesandbearings.
RadioDetectionAndRanging(RADAR)isusedatseatodetectthe
presenceofobjects(knownas‘targets’)atadistance,andifthey
aremoving,detecttheirspeed.
Radarworksbytransmittingradiopulses,thendetectingreections
ofthesepulses(echoes)fromobjectsintheareaanddisplayingthe
reectionsastargetsonyourdisplay.
Untilyouarefamiliarwithinterpretingtheradardisplay,every
opportunityshouldbetakentocomparetheradarscreenpatterns
withvisualtargets,suchasotherboats,buoysandcoastal
structures.Youshouldpractiseharborandcoastalnavigationduring
daylighthoursandinclearweatherconditions.
HDandSuperHDdigitalradar
Yourmultifunctiondisplaycanbeusedwithdigitalradarscanners.
HDandSuperHDDigitalradarscannersprovidearangeof
advantages,makingiteasiertodiscernobjectsaroundyourvessel.
HDandSuperHDDigitalradarscannersprovide:
•Improvedtargetdetection.
•Full-colorimage.
•DualRangeoperation.
•SuperHDoption.Thiseffectivelyincreasesthetransmitterpower
byafactorofatleast2,andreducesthebeamwidthbyasimilar
amount.
Note:YoumustconnectaSuperHDradarscannerinorderto
usetheSuperHDoption.
Multipleradarscanners
Themultifunctiondisplayonlysupportstheuseof1radaronthe
network.
Whentheradarapplicationisopened,ifmultipleradarscannersare
detectedthenawarningmessageshallbedisplayed.Additional
scannerswillneedtoberemovedfromthenetworkbeforetheradar
applicationwillfunction.
