Whenselectingalocationforyourdisplayitisimportantto
consideranumberoffactors.
Keyfactorswhichcanaffectproductperformanceare:
•Ventilation
Toensureadequateairow:
–Ensurethatequipmentismountedinacompartmentof
suitablesize.
–Ensurethatventilationholesarenotobstructed.Allow
adequateseparationofequipment.
Anyspecicrequirementsforeachsystemcomponentare
providedlaterinthischapter.
•Mountingsurface.
Ensureequipmentisadequatelysupportedonasecure
surface.Donotmountunitsorcutholesinplaceswhichmay
damagethestructureofthevessel.
•Cableentry
Ensuretheunitismountedinalocationwhichallowsproper
routingandconnectionofcables:
–Minimumbendradiusof100mm(3.94in)unlessotherwise
stated.
–Usecablesupportstopreventstressonconnectors.
•Wateringress
Thedisplayissuitableformountingbothaboveandbelow
decks.ItiswaterprooftoIPX6standard.Althoughtheunitis
waterproof,itisgoodpracticetolocateitinaprotectedarea
awayfromprolongedanddirectexposuretorainandsalt
spray.
•Electricalinterference
Selectalocationthatisfarenoughawayfromdevicesthat
maycauseinterference,suchasmotors,generatorsandradio
transmitters/receivers.
•Magneticcompass
Selectalocationthatisatleast3ft(1m)awayfroma
magneticcompass.
•Powersupply
Selectalocationthatisascloseaspossibletotheboat’sDC
powersource.Thiswillhelptokeepcablerunstoaminimum
