Rudderdamping
Onautopilotsystemswitharudderreferencetransducer,youcan
settherudderdampingtopreventautopilot‘hunting’.
Increasingtherudderdampingvaluereduceshunting.When
adjustingthevalue,increasethesettingonelevelatatimeuntil
theautopilotstopshunting.Alwaysusethelowestacceptable
value.

Ifarudderreferencetransduceristted,thisscreenisusedto
setthelimitsoftheruddercontroljustinsidethemechanical
endstops,andthusavoidputtingthesteeringsystemunder
unnecessaryload.Thisshouldbesetwhencommissioningthe
system.Thelimitshouldbesettoapproximately5degreesless
thanthemaximumrudderangle.
Note:IfnorudderreferencehasbeenttedyouMUST
ensurethatadequateprovisionismadetopreventthe
steeringmechanismfromimpactingtheendstops.

TheAutoTrimsettingdeterminestherateatwhichtheautopilot
systemapplies‘standinghelm’tocorrectfortrimchangescaused
byvaryingwindloadsonthesailsorsuperstructure.Thedefault
AutoTrimissetaspartoftheAutoLearnprocess.
Ifyouneedtochangethesetting,increasetheAutoTrimone
levelatatimeandusethelowestacceptablevalue:
•Iftheautopilotsystemgivesunstablecoursekeepingor
excessivedriveactivitywithachangeintheheelangle,
decreasetheAutoTrimlevel.
•Iftheautopilotsystemreactsslowlytoaheadingchangedue
toachangeintheheelangle,increasetheAutoTrimlevel.
•IftheAutoTrimlevelistoohigh,thevesselwillbelessstable
andsnakearoundthedesiredcourse.
