Usingwindvanemode
YoucanselectWindvanemodefromeitherSTANDBYor
AUTOmode:
1.Steadythevesselontotherequiredwindangle.
2.SelectWindvanemode:
i.WindvanemodecanbeselectedbypressingtheAuto
andStandbybuttonstogether,or
ii.selectingWindvanemodefromthemodesmenu:Menu
>Mode>Windvane.
ThiswillenableWindvanemodeandlockthecurrentwind
angle.Thedisplayshowsthelockedheading(e.g.128°)
andthewindangle(e.g.WIND145Pindicatesawindangle
of145°toport).
3.Theautopilotwillthenadjustthevessel’sheadingtomaintain
thelockedwindangle.
Adjustingthelockedwindangle
1.Youcanadjustthelockedwindanglebyusingthe-1,+1,
-10and+10buttons,ortheROTARYcontrollertochange
course.Forexample,tobearawayby10°whentheboat
isonastarboardtack:
i.press-10toturntheboat10°toport–thelockedwind
angleandlockedheadingwillbothchangeby10°.
ii.theautopilotwillthenadjustthelockedheadingas
requiredtomaintainthenewwindangle.
Note:Becauseturningthevesselaffectstherelationship
betweenthetrueandapparentwindangles,youshouldonly
usethismethodtomakeminoradjustmentstothewindangle.
Formajorchanges,returntoSTANDBYmode,steerontothe
newheading,thenreselectWindVanemode.Refertothe
p70pilotcontrollerinstallationinstructionfortheprocedurefor
changingthewindreferencebetweenTrueandApparent.
