RS232 Connection
The PC serial port used to connect to the IRC-2000 panels is assigned under the
Communication Port Setup screen of Network properties window in the Integra32
™
software. The baud rate is set by default to 9600 for direct connection to the PC using
the standard RS232 interface. The RS232 interface can be used to connect to a single
controller or to the first controller of a network. The distance between the PC and
controller can not be greater than 150 feet (45 meters), or 30 feet (9 meters) if the baud
rate is increased to 38,400.
For distances greater than 150 feet (45 meters), an RS485 interface must be used. RS485
is built into the IRC-2000 controller but is not part of the standard PC. The PC must be
fitted with either an RS485 serial card or an external RS232 to RS485 serial port
converter.
Additional controllers can be connected via the RS485 terminals.
