d) Connecting the drive battery to the speed controller
Placethevehicleonasuitablebase(orastartbox)sothatthewheelscanmovefreely.Thisensuresthat
you will not lose control of the vehicle if the wheels move suddenly (e.g. if the throttle trim is not set cor-
rectly).
Do not reach into the drive. Do not hold the wheelIs.
Switchoffthespeedcontrollerrst(movetheswitchtothe"OFF"
position).Theon/offswitchcanbefoundatthetopofthechas-
sis,nexttothesteeringservo.Then,ifyouhavenotalreadydone
so, start up the transmitter:
"a)Insertingbatteries/rechargeablebatteriesintotheremote
control"onpage45.
"b)Conguringtheremotecontrol"onpage45.
Connect the drive battery to the speed controller. Ensure that the battery is inserted in the correct polarity (red cable
= positive/+, black cable = negative/-). Do not use force when connecting the battery plug to the speed controller.
Important!
Thevehicleandspeedcontrolleraresuitablefor:
- 2-cell LiPo drive battery (rated voltage 7.4 V)
- 3-cell LiPo drive battery (rated voltage 11.1 V)
- 6-7 cell NiMH drive battery (rated voltage 7.2 V or 8.4 V)
Make sure that the cable cannot get into the vehicle's drive or into the steering mechanism. If necessary, use cable
ties to fasten the cables.
e) Switching on the speed controller
Turnonthespeedcontrollerbymovingtheslideswitchtothe"ON"position,asshowninthegurein"d)Connecting
thedrivebatterytothespeedcontroller"onpage46.Thenwaitafewseconds(leavethethrottle/brakeleveron
thetransmitterintheneutralposition,donotmoveit).Thespeedcontrollermeasuresthebatteryvoltage;depending
upon this, the engine beeps.
Theacousticsignalsaregeneratedbythebrushlessengine.
2 beeps: 2-cell LiPo drive battery or 6-cell NiMH drive battery detected
3 beeps: 3-cell LiPo drive battery
3 beeps: 7-cell NiMH drive battery detected
Important!
Theundervoltagedetectionfeatureworksbydetectingthebatteryvoltagewhenthespeedcontrolleris
switchedon.(TheundervoltagedetectionfeatureswitchesofftheenginewhentheLiPobatteryisemptyto
prevent the battery from overdischarging.)
For this reason, ensure that you connect a fully charged drive battery to the speed controller.
Check that the throttle and steering functions are working correctly.
Referto"10.Programmingthespeedcontroller"onpage49forinstructionsonhowtoprogramthespeedcontroller.
