Testing
Thefollowingmenuisusedtoperformtestsonthesystem.Notethateachtestreferstothe
lasttimethedevicewasactivated.Testscanbeperformedonthefollowingelements:
Quick Keys Parameter Default Range
SelfTest
Thisfeatureprovidesanautomatedself‐testforaselectedgroupof
localizedintrusionsensors(forexample,glassbreakdetectors,sound
discriminatorsandshocksensors)whichrespondtoanartificialsource
ofnoiseand/orvibration.
Automatedself‐testingisespeciallyusefulwhensensorsareplacedin
highsecurityareaswherefailurecannotbetolerated.
Upto16zonescanbedesignatedforself‐testing.
Asoundorvibrationgeneratorshouldbeusedthatcanbeplacedclose
enoughtothesensorstotriggerthemwhenthenoisesourceis
activated.AProgrammableOutputactsasthesourceofswitchedpower
forthenoise/vibrationgenerator(refertoSensorsTest,page127).Thisis
settoconformtothetestingschedule.Thescheduledefinesthetime
anddayforthefirsttest,andsetsthetimesforrepeatedtestsovera24‐
hourperiod.
AmessageissenttotheCentralStationifalltherelatedsensorsare
triggeredduringthetest(ifaReportCodehasbeendefined).With
successfulcompletionoftheself‐test,anentryisalsoplacedinthe
system’sEventLog.
Ifoneormoreofthesensorsfailstotripduringthetestperiod,aself‐
testfailuremessageisgeneratedandsenttotheCentralStation.A
recordofthefailureisalsoenteredintheEventLog.
SoakTest
TheSoakTestfeatureisdesignedtoallowfalsealarmingforpredefined
detectorstobebypassedfromthesystem,whileanyalarmsgeneratedare
displayedtotheuserforreportingtotheMS.Thisisespeciallyusefulif
Policeresponsewithdrawalisbeingthreatenedandaparticularzoneis
causingunidentifiedproblems.
Upto8zonescanbeplacedonSoakTest.AnyzoneplacedintheSoak
Testlistisbypassedfromthesystemfor14daysandisautomatically
reinstatedafterthattimeifNOalarmshavebeengeneratedbyit.
