8.5 STOP OF PROPULSION ENGINES
Do not immediately stop the engines after a full-load operation, but let them
run low (about 5 minutes) to balance the temperature differences.
From inner helm station
Recall levers (1) and (2) to the middle neutral position of the inverter.
Press the “STOP” button (3) and (4).
Turn the keys (5) and (6) to the OFF position.
Disconnect the magneto-thermal switches for the starter keys of the two
engines.
CAUTION
With engines stopped carry out following:
Disconnect all unnecessary electric uses and check the general status
of the switchboard as well as the voltmeters and ammeters indications;
Check the switches of the bilge pumps and their regular operation;
Check for possible leaks from the shaft lines seals;
Rinse the yacht with fresh water;
Connect the shore electric power supply;
Keep the engine room extractor running for about 30 minutes, for ven-
tilation and air cooling.
