12.16 DRAWING THE YACHT IN CASE OF FAILURE
(OR TOWING)
In case the yacht needs to be drawn or towed, fasten the towing lines as
shown in the gure, in order to distribute the load evenly and pull in the middle.
It is a good rule, after fastening the cleats, to carry on with the rope, and the
winch: so as to load the strongest yacht’s points only.
The towing rope length depends on the sea conditions, and must be ad-
justed in such a way to limit the pulling forces without damaging the deck
ttings.
DANGER
Do not approach and do not carry out any kind of intervention on trans-
mission during the towing because propeller can turn.
