TirePressureMonitoringSystem
ThevehicleisequippedwithaTirePressureMonitoringSystem(TPMS)withindividualtire
pressuredisplay.Ifoneofthetiresissignificantlyunder-inflated,alow-tirepressure
indicatorappearsonthedriverdisplay.
Eachtire,includingthespare(ifprovided),shouldbecheckedmonthlywhencoldand
inflatedtotheinflationpressurerecommendedbythevehiclemanufactureronthevehicle
placardortireinflationpressurelabel.
Asanaddedsafetyfeature,yourvehiclehasbeenequippedwithatirepressuremonitoring
system(TPMS)thatilluminatesalowtirepressuretelltalewhenoneormoreofyourtiresis
significantlyunder-inflated.Accordingly,whenthelowtirepressuretelltaleilluminates,you
shouldstopandcheckyourtiresassoonaspossible,andinflatethemtotheproper
pressure.Drivingonasignificantlyunder-inflatedtirecausesthetiretooverheatandcan
leadtotirefailure.Under-inflationalsoreducesfuelefficiencyandtiretreadlife,andmay
affectthevehicle'shandlingandstoppingability.
PleasenotethattheTPMSisnotasubstituteforpropertiremaintenance,anditisthe
driver'sresponsibilitytomaintaincorrecttirepressure,evenifunder-inflationhasnot
reachedtheleveltotriggerilluminationoftheTPMSlowtirepressuretelltale.
TPMSMalfunctionIndicator
TheTPMSmalfunctionindicatoriscombinedwiththelowtirepressuretelltale.Whenthe
systemdetectsamalfunction,thetelltalewillflashforapproximatelyoneminuteandthen
remaincontinuouslyilluminated.Thissequencewillcontinueuponsubsequentvehicle
start-upsaslongasthemalfunctionexists.
Whenthemalfunctionindicatorisilluminated,thesystemmaynotbeabletodetector
signallowtirepressureasintended.TPMSmalfunctionsmayoccurforavarietyofreasons,
includingtheinstallationofreplacementoralternatetiresorwheelsonthevehiclethat
