EventDataRecorder
Thisvehicleisequippedwithaneventdatarecorder(EDR).ThemainpurposeofanEDRis
torecord,incertaincrashornearcrash-likesituations,suchasanairbagdeploymentor
hittingaroadobstacle,datathatwillassistinunderstandinghowavehicle'ssystems
performed.TheEDRisdesignedtorecorddatarelatedtovehicledynamicsandsafety
systemsforashortperiodoftime,typically30secondsorless.TheEDRinthisvehicleis
designedtorecordsuchdataas:
l Howvarioussystemsinyourvehiclewereoperating;
l Whetherornotthedriverandpassengersafetybeltswerebuckled/fastened;
l Howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheacceleratorand/orbrakepedal;and,
l Howfastthevehiclewastraveling.
Thesedatacanhelpprovideabetterunderstandingofthecircumstancesinwhichcrashes
andinjuriesoccur.
NOTE
EDRdataarerecordedbyyourvehicleonlyifanon-trivialcrashsituationoccurs;nodata
arerecordedbytheEDRundernormaldrivingconditions,andnopersonaldata(e.g.,name,
gender,age,andcrashlocation)arerecorded.However,otherparties,suchaslaw
