3: Fitting Hardware Options
The system board has a number of expansion slots which may have
adapter cards fitted (e.g. an AGP graphics card). The positioning of
the cards may vary.
There may also be other adapter cards for connecting to items such
as a network or telephone line. These adapter cards do not affect the
general procedures given in this chapter but you may have to
rearrange them in order to fit a new adapter card.
You can remove adapter cards and refit them into any other similar
slots. The position of some adapter cards may be affected by the
length of the adapter card, route of cables attached to them or
whether they require a specific type of slot; e.g. PCI or AGP.
The RM One is split into two cells. The front cell houses the floppy
disk drive (if fitted) and the optical drive (if fitted). The hard disk drive
can be found in the rear cell next to the mainboard. Due to the
compact dimensions of the RM One there are no bays for additional
optical or hard disks. However, the RM One provides an array of
external ports for connecting hard disks, pen drives and optical
devices.
WARNING:
Remember that electricity is dangerous. If you do not unplug your
computer, you may damage the parts inside it.
We strongly recommend you to wear an earthing wristband when
touching internal computer parts to avoid damage due to static
electricity.
