Maintenance
Note:
Disconnect the machine always from the power supply prior to maintenance work, and always wait for
a complete standstill of all rotating parts!!
To ensure the service life of the machine and the quality of the work we recommend that you clean the
machine once a week.
Any resin deposits on the sliding bars should be removed regularly with a swab and a little solvent
(petrol, kerosene or another product).
During cleaning never smoke: because of fire hazard and risk of serious burns to the operator!
Afterwards, the steel carriers of the chariot must be lubricated with a simple lubricant in spray such as
WD40 or other means, whether or not on Teflon basis.
Remove all dust and woodchips accumulated on the moving parts of the machine and grease with the
same penetrating oil.
To reduce the accumulation of dust and woodchips inside the machine a good dust extraction is
needed when working the milling machine. The use of a dust extraction system will most certainly
extend the life of your machine. The life of the motor(s) can be extended by blowing out saw dust from
the cooling fan and the motor body itself.
All ball bearings of the milling machine are double sealed, dustproof and lubricated for life, so they
need no maintenance. All columns, e.g. up and down spindle, need to be lubricated once a month, or
more frequently when the machine is used in a very humid environment
Problems and troubleshooting
Causes and solutions:
The machine does not start when the start button is activated:
- workshop main fuse is switched off: power cut, power storage or general overload.
- main switch off: put switch on “1”
- switches in wrong position, e.g. “star-delta” or break release switch: put in the correct position
- access door is open: close the door correctly
- emergency stop is engaged: release emergency stop
- the spindle arbor lock, connected to a safety switch, is still turned on: free blocking
Reduction of cutting speed when working:
- motor overload due to incorrect feed rate: reduce the feed rate
- blunt tool: sharpen tools
Vibration of the machine:
- unbalanced tool: balance tool
Thermal overload does not re-arm automatically after shut-off and cooling down period:
- overload is not set on automatic reset or the overload is faulty: set on automatic or replace
