1. DESCRIPTION OF DEVICE
1.1 Intended use
Scale The seca 333 i electronic baby scale is mainly used in hospitals, medical prac-
tices and inpatient care facilities in accordance with national regulations.
The baby scale is for conventional determination of weight and establishment
of general state of nutrition; it assists the physician supervising treatment in
making a diagnosis or deciding on a course of treatment. To make an accu-
rate diagnosis, however, the physician needs to commission other specific
examinations and take their results into account, in addition to determining a
weight.
Measuring station In conjunction with measuring rods seca 234 and seca 232 n available as
options, baby scale seca 333 i serves as a measuring station. The measuring
station is for conventional determination of weight and length, establishment
of general state of nutrition and assists the physician supervising treatment in
making a diagnosis or deciding on a course of treatment. To make an accu-
rate diagnosis, however, the physician needs to commission other specific
examinations and take their results into account, in addition to determining
weight and length.
1.2 Description of function
Scale Weight is recorded using four load cells. The scale can be transported using
the carrying handle.
WiFi interface The seca 333 i model can transmit measured results to a hospital information
system (HIS) or to seca software via a WiFi connection.
Measuring rod The scale can be expanded into a measuring station by means of analog
measuring rod
seca 232 n or digital measuring rod seca 234.
Digital measuring rod
seca 234 has its own display and is connected to the
scale with a connector. Measured results can be sent to the scale and
transmitted to an HIS via WiFi.
USB interface
(models with a WiFi interface)
A barcode scanner can be connected to the USB interface. This allows users
and patients to be identified by means of their barcodes and measured
results assigned in the HIS.
Data transmission
(models with a WiFi interface)
The link from the device to the HIS is made via the seca connect 103
configuration software.
1.3 User qualification
Administration
(models with a WiFi interface)
The device may only be set up and incorporated in a network by experienced
administrators or hospital technicians.
Operation The device may only be operated by healthcare professionals.
