Use as a Compass6.6
The different cardinal points can be determined with the device in order to have a better orientation
during the survey.
Step 1: Aligning the device
Loosen the locking screw at the hinge joint. Align the probe horizontally and fix it with the locking
screw.
Step 2: Setting mode and measurement range
Set the device to mode 4 and select measurement range 300.
Step 3: Identify cardinal points
Turn around your own axis until the pointer in the display indicates „zero“. The device now indicates
the direction East-West. Turn right by 90° with the device.
If the pointer moves to the negative part of the display while turning 90° to the right, the device is
directed to the South after the 90° turn. Therefore the probe was directed to the East before.
If the pointer moves to the positive part of the display while turning 90° to the right, the device is
directed to the North once the 90° turn is done. Therefore the probe was directed to the West
before.
