5.3 Cleaning and Replacing the Quartz Cylinder

Remove two screws on the head and dismount the head.

Remove the quartz cylinder using a pair of tweezers. Confirm that the cylinder is free from
contamination and damages.

When it is contaminated, clean it with solvent and the like, and then dry it well. If it is damaged,
prepare a new quartz cylinder (P/N221-46552).
7.
Mount the cleaned quartz cylinder or a new one using a pair of tweezers.

When mounting of the quartz cylinder is complete, mount the head following the removal procedure in
the reversed order.
NOTE If the quartz cylinder is extremely dirty and the detection sensitivity does not recover even if replaced with a
new quartz cylinder, the lens may be contaminated. Contact our sales office or representative.
9.
Finally, fix the FPD upper cover on the FPD by the screw as before.
NOTE Because the FPD upper cover prevents the stray light entering the photomultiplier, the cover must be installed.
