Chapter 5
Use safety transformer!
The output circuit of the power supply must be safely electrically isolated from the input
circuit, this feature is normally provided by a safety transformer in accordance with IEC 742
(VDE 0551).
5.3.2 Wire cross-sections
Wire all connections with copper cables!
Use the following wire cross-sections:
supply voltage at least 0.25 mm² (0.01 in²), if local supply of power (power
supply) in
the imme
diate vicinity
supply voltage at least 0.5 mm² (0.04 in²) at maximum length of 10 m (32.81 ft), if
connection is made to an existing DC 24 V supply
data interface minimum 0.25 mm² (0.01 in²)
Lay all cables such that there is no risk of tripping and all cables are pr
otected against
damage.
On t
he usage of a typical power supply with a nominal voltage of DC 24 V ±5%, the following
maximum cable lengths are allowed for the supply of the operating voltage:
5.3.3 General conditions for the data interface
The table below shows the recommended maximum length of cable.
Important Use screened cable (twisted-pair) with at least 0.25 mm² (0.01 in²).
To prevent interference, do not lay data cable in parallel with power
supply and motor
c
ables over a long run, e.g. in cable ducts.
5.4 Undertaking electrical installation on the NAV350
5.4.1 Equipment
tool set
digital multimeter (current/voltage measurement)
Only connect in electrically isolated state!
Ensure the power supply to which the NAV350 is connected is switched off.
