4.6 Identification and maintenance data

All modules of the LINK support identification data (I&M0 to I&M3). The I&M identification 
data supports you in the following activities: 
●  Assignment of plant-related identification characteristics 
●  Checking the plant configuration 
●  Locating hardware changes in a plant 
●  Correcting errors in a plant 
Modules can be clearly identified online using the I&M identification data. 
With STEP 7 you can read out the I&M data. See the online help of STEP 7. 
Configuring, reading and writing I&M data 
You have the following options, for reading or writing I&M data: 
●  Configuring 
With STEP 7 
●  Reading / writing 
With read / write data record 
(only in the "PROFINET IO proxy" mode, e.g. via the user program) 
Display of the I&M data in STEP 7 V5 
You can display the I&M0 and I&M1 data as follows: 
●  Via the special diagnostics (properties dialog of the LINK > "Diagnostics" tab > Start 
special diagnostics) 
and 
●  In the "Gateway" mode using the STEP 7 function "Module Information" 
You can load the I&M data in the "PROFINET IO-Proxy" mode as follows: 
●  Upload to PG 
With the "PLC" > "Upload Module Identification to PG" menu command 
●  Downloading to the module 
With the "PLC" > "Download Module Identification" menu command 
Reading the I&M data using STEP 7 Professional 
Gateway in standard operation 
Requirement: There must be an online connection to the LINK. 
1.  Select the LINK in the project tree. 
2.  Select "Online & diagnostics" > "Identification & Maintenance".
