9.3 Correcting communication failures
9.3.1 NK822x generated a fault
If an NK822x generates a fault, there may be one or more causes. The problem
may be in the NK822x unit, or in the NK822x connection to the DMS.
Check the NK822x
Check power, vital function, and diagnostic state on the respective LED, which is
located on the front panel of NK822x.
Note: If connection to NK822x is lost, you might reset the device back to factory
configuration by setting DIP-switch 2 to ON.
Check network connections
LAN
Diagnostic information about the LAN state can be obtained from different lay-
ers:
Link state LED of Repeater or Ethernet NIC gives you information about the
physical connection and the speed of the Ethernet link.
1. Select Start Programs Accessories Command Prompt.
2. Choose from the following commands:
ipconfig /all Shows comprehensive information about the local PC’s
IP configuration (for example, the IP address);
ping n.n.n.n Lets you check the communication with an IP network
participant (“n.n.n.n” is the IP address to check);
ping n.n.n.n –t Lets you continuously check the communication with an
IP network participant (“n.n.n.n” is the IP address to
check);
netstat Provides you the information about all established
TCP/IP connections;
arp –a Displays the physical address translation table.
9.3.2 Control unit generated a fault
If a control unit generated a fault, the problem may be in the connectivity between
one of the control units (or subsystems) and the NK822x.
Check network connections
CerCom/LON (CS6 Guarto only)
Note: Please refer to the Echelon Manual for detailed specification on how to set up a
LON network: http://www.echelon.com/Support/documentation/
Section: Engineering Bulletins → Media & Wiring
The LON networks are sensitive to improper termination. If it appears, that the
LON communication is not reliable, check the following points:
– Cabling, connectors;
– Proper termination;
– Cable length / quality according to LON FT/TP-10 requirements;
