The Siemens Mobile Panel 177 (WinCC flexible) is a human-machine interface (HMI) device designed for industrial automation applications. It offers a mobile and flexible solution for operating and monitoring systems, with various configurations to suit different operational needs.
Function Description
The Mobile Panel 177 serves as a mobile HMI device, allowing operators to interact with and monitor industrial processes. It can be used for stationary operation when placed in a wall holder. The device is available in three main configurations:
- With enabling switches: Provides basic safety functionality.
- With enabling switches and STOP button: Adds an emergency stop function for enhanced safety.
- With enabling switches, STOP button, handwheel, key-operated switch, and illuminated pushbutton: Offers a comprehensive set of control elements for complex operations.
The device connects to a terminal box via a quick-connect plug connector and an industrial-grade connecting cable, which is resistant to many solvents and lubricants and designed for high flexural strength. The terminal box acts as an interface for power supply, safety functions, and process connections to a PLC or other control systems.
Key operational features include:
- Touch screen and membrane keyboard: The primary input method is the color STN-LC display with a touch screen. Additionally, there is a membrane keyboard with function keys (F1 to F8 with LEDs, and F9 to F14 without LEDs).
- Enable switch: A 3-stage, 2-circuit switch located on both sides of the panel. It has three settings: Neutral position (OFF), Enable (ON), and Panic (OFF). This switch is crucial for safety-related functions, ensuring that the operator is actively holding the device. The signals from the enable switch are fed to the terminal box and can be interconnected to a safety circuit for power interruption in manual special operating modes.
- STOP button (optional): A 2-circuit button designed for safety-related stops. When pressed, it engages in the stop position and opens the stop circuit. It can be used for quick process stops or to trigger an emergency stop function in a monitored system. Releasing the STOP button requires a clockwise turn.
- Handwheel (optional): An incremental input device that can be turned without a stop or zero position. It is used to input incremental values and its status can be evaluated as a direct button or via WinCC flexible system functions.
- Key-operated switch (optional): Used to lock functions that are triggered by the Mobile Panel 177 in an active project. It has three positions: central (0), turned clockwise (I), and turned counterclockwise (II).
- Illuminated pushbutton (optional): Provides rapid digital inputs, with its status evaluated as a direct button or via WinCC flexible system functions. The LED state can be controlled by the PLC.
- Connection point recognition: The terminal box can be assigned a unique box ID, which the HMI device can read and transmit to the controller. This allows for zone-specific safety functions and the display of different system screens depending on the connected terminal box.
