Example of the service life for a hard disk drive
The service life of a hard disk drive depends on the following factors:
● Temperature (operating & storage / transport)
● Shock (operating & storage / transport)
● Vibration (operating & storage / transport)
● Humidity (operating & storage / transport)
● Power supply
● Power on hours (POH)
● Duty cycle (% workload, i.e. write/read/positioning)
The service life for a hard disk is between 2.5 and 5 years, depending on the factors listed
above.
Booting from the Flash drive
To be able to boot from the flash drive, you first need to install an operating system and set
the boot priority. The procedure for installing an operating system is described in the section
2Installing Windows (Page 2111). How to change the boot priority in the BIOS setup is
described in the section
2Boot Menu (Page 2195).
