Ex zone entrainment
Danger of explosion in hazardous areas
It is in the responsibility of the customer to implement a safety concept that ensures that Ex
zone entrainment cannot occur when using purging.
• A possible solution may be the use of non-return valves in the purging gas ow to ensure
that no gas can leave the process through the purging gas connection.
WARNING
Connecting or disconnecting device in energized state
Risk of explosion in hazardous areas.
• Connect or disconnect devices in hazardous areas only in a de-energized state.
• Install a suitable switch-o device.
Exceptions:
• Devices having exclusively the type of protection "Intrinsic safety Ex i" may also be
connected in energized state in hazardous areas.
Note
After switching the device o, wait at least 10 minutes.
WARNING
Improper power supply
Risk of explosion in hazardous areas as result of incorrect power supply.
• Connect the device in accordance with the specied power supply and signal circuits. The
relevant specications can be found in the certicates, in Technical data (Page87) or on
the nameplate.
WARNING
Lack of equipotential bonding
Risk of explosion through compensating currents or ignition currents through lack of
equipotential bonding.
• Ensure that the device is potentially equalized
• The cable cross-section of the equipotential bonding cable must be greater than or equal to
the connecting cable of the electronics
