2.2 Flowmeter Setup
Note
Refer to Appendix A (Page 47) for the serial cable specifications
required for different
SITRANS F flowmeter types.
1. Connect the appropriate serial cable between the flowmeter and free serial port on the
PC. Si-Ware can be set up to use any of the four conventional serial ports COM1 through
COM4. Make sure that there is an available free serial port since the mouse, modem and
other devices of the computer often use these ports.
Note
Many new laptop PCs are not equipped with serial ports and only have USB ports. These
PCs require a USB to RS-232 adaptor that can be purchased commercially.
2. Turn on power to the flowmeter if it is not already powered up.
3. Verify the following RS-232 configuration settings by accessing the [Meter Facilities]
menu. Scroll down to menu item [RS-232 Setup] and press the <Right Arrow>.
4. If different RS-232 settings are preferred for the flowmeter, proceed to Si-Ware
Communi
cations Setup (Page 9) and adjust the Si-Ware communications settings as
require
