Chapter 3: About UCS server management 28
Tasks Steps Details
2 Connect the 10GbE mLOM ports for
the three SimpliVity networks to the FI
in Fabric A and the FI in Fabric B.
See "About network cabling options."
3 Power-on the server and wait for
UCSM to discover it.
You press the power button on the
front panel.
Note:
When the server powers on and
connects to UCSM, it might attempt
to automatically update the server
firmware with an incompatible version.
To disable auto-updating, you can
select Equipment tab > Equipment
icon > Policies tab > Global Policies
subtab, and then select the No
Actions radio button under Firmware
Auto Sync Server Policy.
4 Create the following policies in UCSM:
■ BIOS Policy
■ Host Firmware Package Policy
■ Local Disk Config Policy
■ Boot Policy
■ QoS Policy
See the SimpliVity OmniStack with
Cisco UCS Manager Integration
document for the policy settings.
Local Disk Config Policy: You create
this policy to configure RAID protection
on the front disk drives. Ensure that
FlexFlash State and FlexFlash RAID
Reporting State are set to Enable.
Boot Policy: The UCS C240 M4SX
model boots from an internal SD card,
which you add manually to the Boot
Policy.
QoS Policy: You must create this policy
to set a maximum transmission (MTU)
of 9000 for all SimpliVity networks:
Storage, Federation, and Management.
You then associate the policy to the
appropriate vNIC template in Task 8.
In UCSM, you select LAN tab > LAN
Cloud > QoS System Class icon and
then type 9216 for MTU.
