Chapter 7: About network cabling options 59
Use two SFP+ Direct Attach cables (or Fiber Optic cables) to connect the 10GbE network interfaces
to the FIs.
The FIs provide connectivity to the network.
The 1GbE network interfaces are not required because the management takes place over the
10GbE network.
About the SingleConnect Cluster configuration
A SingleConnect Cluster configuration for UCS C240 M4SX servers in Integrated Mode in a Cisco UCS
Manager (UCSM) environment uses redundant 10GbE connections through UCS Fabric Extenders
(FEX) and Fabric Interconnects. UCSM uses the 10GbE network connections (mLOM) for both
management and data traffic and no 1GbE (management-only) connection is needed. The following
diagram shows a two-server configuration using redundant, 10GbE connections to separate FEX
devices.
Note:
Ensure that all required settings for Standalone Mode, using CIMC, or Integrated Mode, using UCSM,
are correctly configured for your environment.
