Chapter 3: About UCS server management
This section contains the following topics:
•
About UCS server management for Integrated Mode
•
About UCS server management for Standalone Mode
You use UCS Manager (UCSM) or Cisco Integrated Management Controller (CIMC) to add a UCS
C240 M4SX server to your environment.
Caution:
If you change a deployed server from Standalone Mode to Integrated Mode with UCSM, or
from Integrated Mode to Standalone Mode, contact Customer Support to ensure the server is
configured correctly.
About UCS server management for Integrated Mode
After installing the UCS C240 M4SX server hardware in a rack and attaching the power cables, you
complete a number of tasks to configure UCS Manager (UCSM) to add the server to your environment.
These tasks assume you have already installed the server in a rack and that your UCSM environment
contains two fabrics (e.g., A and B) with separate Fabric Interconnects (FI) and, optionally, separate
Fabric Extenders (FEX).
For more information about the settings in each task, see the UCSM documentation. You can also
review the SimpliVity OmniStack with Cisco UCS Manager Integration document, which provides a
general overview of the configuration and information about some of the tasks in the table below:

Note:
The SimpliVity OmniStack with Cisco UCS Manager Integration document does not provide all required
information. You can use the document for some settings, but the table below is more complete.
