BREAK-IN PERIOD
Operation During Break-In
Engine
During the break-in period:
- Avoid prolonged full throttle operation.
- Avoid sustained accelerations.
- Avoid prolonged cruising speeds.
- Avoid engine overheating.
However, brief accelerations and speed variations contribute
to a good break-in.
During a predetermined period, the engine management sys-
tem controls some engine parameters.
The duration is based on fuel volume. It will take approximately
two fuel tanks to complete the break-in.
During this period:
- The engine performance and behavior will not be optimal.
- The fuel and oil consumption will be higher.
Drive Belt
A new drive belt requires a break in period of 50 km (30 mi).
During the break-in period:
- Avoid strong acceleration and deceleration.
- Avoid pulling a load.
- Avoid high speed cruising.
If the vehicle creeps, lower the drive belt height from the pre-
liminary setting. Refer to DRIVE BELT in MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE.
