12. Recommission the inverter.
13. If the inverter still displays an insulation error, contact the Service (see Section17 "Contact",
page91). The PV modules might not be suitable for the inverter in the present quantity.
12.4 Updating the Firmware
If there is not an automatic update enabled for the inverter in the communication product (e.g.
SunnyHomeManager) or in SunnyPortal, you can update the inverter firmware as described in
the following.
Requirements:
☐ An update file with the desired inverter firmware must be available. The update file is, for
example, available for download on the product page of the inverter at www.SMA-
Solar.com.
Procedure:
1. Activate the user interface (see Section8.1, page43).
2. Log into the user interface (see Section8.2, page46).
3. Select the menu Device Configuration.
4. Select [Settings].
5. In the subsequent context menu, select [Updating the firmware].
6. Follow the instructions in the dialog.
12.5 Opening the Inverter
If you have to open the inverter enclosure lid for repairs or replacement, proceed as described in
the following.
Damage to the seal of the enclosure lid in sub-zero conditions
If you open the enclosure lid in sub-zero conditions, the sealing of the enclosure lid can be
damaged. This can lead to moisture entering the inverter.
• Do not open the inverter at ambient temperatures lower than -5°C.
• If a layer of ice has formed on the seal of the enclosure lid in sub-zero conditions, remove it
prior to opening the inverter (e.g. by melting the ice with warm air). Observe the applicable
safety regulations.
