You do not know if the OS of your computer is compatible with the camera.
• Check ' Rec()mmendcd computer environment" on page 56 for Windm_ s_and page 67 for
Macintosh.
You cannot install the USB driver.
• InWindows 2000, log on as Adndnistrator (authorized Administrators) (page 57).
Nothing appears on the camera screen when a USB connection is made.
• The switch on the cable for multi-use terminal is set to 'TV. Set to "CAMERA" (page 5q).
Your computer does not recognize your camera.
• Turn on the camera (_ ,_tep 2 in "Read Thi,_ First ').
• When the batte U le'_el is low, install the charged battery pack (_ stu_ 1 in "Read This
First"), or use the AC Adaptor (not supplied) (page 15).
• Use the supplied cable for multi-use terminal (page 59).
• [)isconnect the cable for multi-use tenninal from both the computer and the camera, and
connect it again firmly. Make sure that "USB Mode Mass Storage" is displayed (page 59).
• Set [USB Connect] to [Mass Storage] in the _ (Selup) menu (page 53).
• Disconnect all equipment other than the camera, the ke._board and the mouse from the USB
connL, ctors of your computcE
• Connect the camera directly to your computer without passing through a USB hub or other
device (page 59).
• The USB driver is not installed. Install Ibe USB driver (page 57).
• Your computer does not properly recognize the device because you connected the camera and
your computer with the cable for multi-use tenninal belbre you installed the "USB Driver"
from the supplied CD-ROM. Delete the erroneously recognized dex ice fi'om your computer,
then install the USB driver (see the next item).
The "Removable disk" icon does not appear on the computer screen when you
connect your computer to the camera.

1 Right-click [My Computer] to display the menu, then click [Properties].
The "System Properties" screen appears.
2 Click [Hardware] _ [Device Manager].
• For Windows 98198SE/Me, click the [De'rice Manager] tab.
The "Device Manager" appears.
3 Right-click [_ Sony DSCI, then click [Uninsta111_ [OKI.
The device is deleted.
4 Install the USB driver (page 57).
