Using the Radio Data System (RDS)
(This function is for models of area code CED only.)
Simply select a station on the FM band using direct
tuning (page 47), automatic tuning (page 47), or
preset tuning (page 48).
When you tune in a station that provides RDS services,
the RDS indicator lights up and the program station name
appears in the display.
Note
RDS may not work properly if tile station you tuned to is not
transmitting the RDS signal properly or if the signal strength is
weak.
While receiving an RDS station, press DISPLAY
repeatedly to change the RDS information on the
display window.
Notes
If there is an emergency announcement by government
authorities, "Alarm Alarm!" flashes in the display.
Ira station does not provide a partictflar RDS servic< "No XX"
(such as "No Clock Time") appears in the display.
When a station broadcasts radio text data, it is displayed at the
same rate at which it is sent from the station. Any change in
this rate is reflected in the display rate of the data.
You can ttme in preset stations according to a program
type that you specif,,/. The receiver scans for stations in its
preset memo W currently broadcasting the specified
program type.
1 Press PTY.
Press (TUNING) PTY SELECT + or (TUNING) PTY
SELECT - to select the program type.
See tile table on the next page fin" information on each
program type.
Press PTY.
While tile receiver is scanning stations, "PTY
SEARCH" and the prograin type indication appear
alternately in the display window.
When tile receiver finds a station, the receiver stops
scanning.
When tile receiver could not find any preset stations
currently broadcasting the specified program type,
"PTY not found" appears in the display.
The EON (Enhanced Other Network) flmction allows the
receiver to switch automatically to a station broadcasting
traffic announcements, news, or inflnTnation programs.
When such a program starts on a station networking with
tile preset FM RDS station, the receiver autoinatically
runes in the station.
After the program ends, tile receiver switches back to the
original preset station or the program source you were
originally listening to.
