-Removethefueltank.

Removetheplugsfromthefuel
tank.
Note:Replacewornplugs.

Takeoutscrew(1).
•
Removetheretainer(2).
Note:Tightendownthescrew
onlyafterfittingthestartercover.
•
Pulloutthebush(1).
•
Removegrommet(2)fromtank.
-Removethefuelhoses-see9.5.
Installinthereversesequence.
•
Theplugs(1)mustengage
overthepegs(2).
-Donotpinchthethrottlecable.
•
Tightendownscrewonretainer
to4.0Nm(3lbf.ft).
Thediaphragmpumpdrawsfuel
outofthetankandintothe
carburetorviathefuelhose.Any
impuritiesmixedwiththefuelare
retainedbythepickupbody(filter).
Thefineporesofthefilterevent-
uallybecomecloggedwithminute
particlesofdirt.Thisrestrictsthe
passageoffuelandresultsinfuel
starvation.
Important:Intheeventoftrouble
withthefuelsupplysystem,
alwayscheckthefueltankand
thepickupbodyfirst.Cleanthe
fueltankifnecessary.
Cleaningthefueltank
-Unscrewthefillercapanddrain
thetank.
-Pourasmallamountofclean
gasolineintothetank.
-Closethetankandshakethe
unitvigorously.
-Openthetankagainanddrainit.
Note:Disposeoffuelproperly.
Pickupbody/fuelhoses
-Removethefueltank-see9.4.
Note:Markthepositionofthefuel
hoses.
