-Removethestopswitch.
•
Disconnecttheshortcircuitwire
(1)andgroundwire(2)
fromtheignitionmodule.
-Takethewiresoutofengine
housing.
Installinthereversesequence.
•
Makesurewiresareproperly
seatedintheguidesinthe
enginehousing.
•
Engagewiresbehindretainersin
areaofflywheel.
Iftheactionofthestarterrope
becomesverystiffandtherope
rewindsveryslowlyornotcom-
pletely,itcanbeassumedthat
thestartermechanismisinorder
butpluggedwithdirt.Atverylow
outsidetemperaturesthelubri-
catingoilontherewindspringmay
thickenandcausethespring
windingstosticktogether.This
hasadetrimentaleffectonthe
functionofthestartermechanism.
Insuchacaseitissufficientto
applyafewdropsofparaffin
(kerosine)totherewindspring.
Thencarefullypulloutthestarter
ropeseveraltimesandallowitto
rewinduntilitsnormalsmooth
actionisrestored.
Ifcloggedwithdirtorpitch,the
entirestartermechanism,
includingtherewindspring,must
beremovedanddisassembled.
Takespecialcarewhenremoving
thespring.
Washallpartsinparaffinorwhite
spirit.
Lubricatetherewindspringand
starterpostwithSTIHLspecial
lubricant,see11.2,before
installing.
