Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the Supa L16 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the SUPA L16 security alarm system, a comprehensive solution designed for both interior and perimeter protection. The system is engineered to provide innovative, precise, and up-to-date security technology.

Function Description

The SUPA L16 is a security alarm system that monitors premises using various strategically positioned sensors. These sensors detect movement, window and door openings, glass shattering, excess heat, or smoke. The system features 16 zones and can be divided into 4 partitions, allowing for flexible and tailored security configurations. It can automatically transmit alarm and status messages to a central monitoring station and provides audible beeping tones during alarm events, both locally and over the telephone network.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Zones: 16 zones for comprehensive security monitoring.
  • Partitions: Can be divided into 4 partitions.
  • Event Memory: Stores up to 250 events, with new events overwriting the earliest if full (first-in, first-out basis).
  • User Codes: Supports multiple user codes, including a Master User with highest priority. User-2 is designated as the Installer code and cannot be programmed or changed by other users.
  • Telephone Numbers: Can be programmed with up to 4 telephone numbers, each with a maximum of 16 digits, for reporting events and alarms.
  • Timers: Programmable timers for various functions like system date, system time, auto daily test, interval time, auto away arm, and auto disarm for each partition.
  • Dialler: System dialler performs CMS reporting.
  • Keypad: LCD/LED keypad display for system status and programming.
  • Power: Operates with AC power and includes a backup battery.

Usage Features

The SUPA L16 offers a wide range of usage features designed for ease of operation and robust security:

  • Arming Modes:
    • Away Arming: Activates all zones, bypassing zones that are not yet secured or still open if "Force Arm" is enabled. Requires all zones to be closed for normal arming.
    • Home Arming: Activates perimeter zones while allowing movement within interior premises.
    • Force Arm Function: Allows the system to arm even if some zones are open or not yet secured.
  • Disarming: Deactivates all burglary zones, resets triggered sirens and strobe lights. Requires a valid User code. Multiple incorrect entries (up to 20) will result in a 10-second lockout period.
  • Delay Zone: Provides a limited time window for entry or exit before the alarm triggers, allowing users to arm or disarm the system.
  • Instant Zone: Triggers the alarm immediately if violated while the system is armed.
  • 24 Hour Zone: Generates an alarm at all times, regardless of the system's arm or disarm state.
  • Bypass Zone: Temporarily switches off protection for specific zones, useful for eliminating faulty zones or those not ready from activating an alarm. Bypassed zones are re-enabled upon the next system arming or can be manually un-bypassed.
  • Quick Mode Function: Allows direct activation of Away, Home, Bypass, and Review modes without requiring a User code.
  • Chime Function: Causes the keypad beeper to sound a tone when zones are opened during the Disarm state (temporarily canceled during Arm state).
  • Remote Arming and Disarming: Enables users to arm and disarm the system using a mobile phone or touch-tone telephone from any location.
  • Call-In Beeping Tone Menu: Allows remote control of standard functions via telephone, with audible low-frequency tones as feedback. Functions include Away Arm, Home Arm, Disarm/Off, System Status, Bypass, Panic, Check Emergency, and Hang Up.
  • Panic, Medical, and Fire Alarms: Dedicated functions for triggering immediate emergency alarms.
  • Duress Alarm: A silent alarm triggered by entering a specific User code (last digit incremented by 1), discreetly signaling a duress situation to the central monitoring station.
  • Programming User Codes: Master User can program personal telephone numbers, user codes, user partitions, timers, and rename zone names during system Disarm.
  • Programming Telephone Numbers: Allows programming of up to four telephone numbers for event reporting.
  • Programming Timers: Configures system date, time, auto daily test, interval time, and auto arm/disarm schedules for each partition.
  • Renaming Zones: Allows customization of zone names for better identification.
  • Restricting Installer Code: A safety measure to prevent unauthorized programming by other users.
  • Triple Reporting: Supports three types of reporting formats: dialing a personal telephone number, IP reporting address, and reporting to a central monitoring station.

Maintenance Features

The SUPA L16 includes features to facilitate system maintenance and ensure optimal performance:

  • Review Event Memory: Allows viewing of faulted zones, AC failure, low battery events, and emergency events (panic, medical, fire). The keypad displays up to 250 events, which can be cleared manually.
  • Walk-Test: Enables periodic testing of all zones, siren, and strobe light functionality to ensure the system is in working condition. Requires all zones to be closed and no one within the premises during the test.
  • System Test: Sends a test report to the central monitoring station (CMS) if enabled, verifying the system dialler's performance.
  • Auto Daily Test: Reports to the central monitoring station on the operating condition of the system's dialler.
  • Key-Switch Input: Available on the control panel for toggling the system between Arm and Disarm states or connecting to an external radio remote control for various operations.
  • Battery Backup: The system operates on AC power and has a backup battery to ensure continuous operation during power outages. Low battery events are reported.
  • Troubleshooting Information: The manual provides guidance on common issues, such as illegal code entries, and recommends checking system status before performing other functions.
  • Installer Options: Many advanced functions, such as enabling specific reporting formats, chime, entry beep, or disabling call-in, require activation by an installer.

The SUPA L16 is designed for reliability and user-friendliness, offering robust security and flexible configuration options to meet diverse protection needs. Regular review of the manual is recommended to fully utilize its capabilities.
