Figure 49. Removing the Encoder
5. Pulling gently on the grip ring, carefully remove the Encoder cable from bottom of the encoder
assembly. Allow the cable to dangle in place.
6. Loosen the four bolts holding Encoder assembly to the chassis.
7. Remove the encoder belt from the larger front gear (to the level-wind).
8. Remove the loosened screws and washers on the Encoder and set aside.
Make sure that spool is supported but does not extract with the following step. It is heavy
and can cause damage if dropped.
9. Carefully slide the encoder assembly to the right, away from the chassis. Do not remove the spool
yet. Set the encoder aside.
10. While supporting the weight of the spool, carefully slide it to the right off the motor axle.
11. Lower the spool through the bottom of the chassis.
Figure 50. Removing the Spool
Reassembling the Spool Module
1. Position the spool such that the strengthening bar is to the left of the rapidCAST as viewed from
the rear (Davit pointing away).
2. The line should now be positioned to unspool from the top.
If the line is not in this orientation then do not use this spool until it is corrected!
