E. Using a 0.010 inch thick-feeler gauge, verify
that a gap is present between the rotor and
armature face on both sides of the brake
pole as shown in Figure 62 and Figure 63 .
Note: Due to the way the rotor and
armature faces wear (peaks and valleys), it
is sometimes dif cult to measure the true
gap.

• If the gap is less than 0.010 inch,
then install the shim and refer to
T roubleshooting ( page 57 ) .
• If the gap is suf cient, proceed to the
safety check in step F .
F . Perform the following safety check:
i. Start the engine from the operator ’ s
position.
ii. Make sure that the blades do not
engage when the PT O switch is in
the O FF position and the clutch is
disengaged.
Note: If the clutch does not
disengage, install the shim, and refer
to T roubleshooting ( page 57 ) .
iii. Engage and disengage the PT O
switch 10 consecutive times to
ensure that the clutch is functioning
properly .

properly , refer to T roubleshooting
( page 57 ) .
Checking the Wheel-Lug
Nuts
Service Interval : After the rst 100 hours —Check the
wheel-lug nuts.
Check and torque the wheel-lug nuts to 1 15 to 142
N∙m (85 to 105 ft-lb).
