Note:Inspecttheareabeneaththemowerstobecertain
theyareclearofdebris.
1.Sitontheseat,ensurethattheparkingbrakeisengaged,
disengagetheraise/lowermowcontrol,andmovethe
functionalcontrollevertoNeutral.
2.Ensurethatyourfootisnotonthetractionpedaland
makesurethepedalisintheNEUTRALposition.
3.Movethechokelevertotheclosedposition(onlywhen
startingacoldengine)andthethrottlelevertothehalf
throttleposition.
4.Starttheengineandregulatethechoketokeepit
runningsmoothly.
5.Assoonaspossible,openthechokebypullingit
rearwardtotheOFFposition.
Note:Awarmenginerequireslittleornochoking.
6.Afterstartingtheengine,checkthemachineasfollows:
A.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition.
B.Movethetraction-controllevertotheMOW
positionandmomentarilyengagethereels
bymovingtheraise/lowermow-controllever
forward.
Note:Thecuttingunitsshoulddropandallthe
reelsshouldrotate.
C.Movetheraise/lowermowcontrolleverrearward
untilthecuttingunitsraisetothefulltransport
position.
Note:Thecuttingunitswillstoprotatingassoon
asthestarttolift.Ifyoureleasetheleverbefore
thecuttingunitsarefullyraised,theupward
motionwillstop,butthecuttingunitswillstill
stoprotating.
D.Locktheparkingbrakeandturntheengineoff.
E.Checkthelipofeachbaskettobesureitisnotin
contactwiththereelduringoperation.
Ifyouseesignsofcontact,adjustthepullarms;
referto4InstallingtheCuttingUnits(page15).
F.Checkforoilleaksandtightenthehydraulic
ttingsifanyarefound.
Note:Whenthemachineisnewandthebearings
andreelsaretight,itisnecessarytousetheFAST
throttleleverpositionforthischeck.Afast
throttlesettingmaynotberequiredafterthe
break-inperiod.
Note:Ifoilleakscontinuetoappear,contact
yourAuthorizedToroDistributorforassistance
and,ifnecessary,replacementparts.
Important:Atraceofoilonthemotoror
wheelsealsisnormal.Sealsrequireasmall
amountoflubricationtoperformproperly.
CheckingtheSafety-Interlock
System
CAUTION
Ifthesafety-interlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damagedthemachinecouldoperateunexpectedly,
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
dailyandreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Thepurposeofthesafety-interlocksystemistoprevent
operationofthemachinewherethereispossibleinjuryto
theoperatororthemachine.
Thesafety-interlocksystempreventstheenginefromstarting
unlessthefunctional-controlleverisinneutralanditprevents
themachinefrommovingunless:
•Theparkingbrakeisoff.
•Theoperatorisseated.
•ThefunctionalcontrolleverisinMOWorTRANSPORT.
Thesafety-interlocksystempreventsthereelsfromoperating
unlessthefunctionalcontrolleverisintheMOWposition.
Performthefollowingsystemchecksdailytobesurethe
interlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly:
1.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltoNEUTRAL,
movethefunctionalcontrollevertoNEUTRAL,and
engagetheparkingbrake.Trytopressthetraction
pedal.Thepedalshouldnotpress,whichmeansthat
theinterlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly.Correctthe
problemifitisnotoperatingproperly.
2.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltoNEUTRAL,
movethefunctionalcontrollevertoNEUTRAL,and
engagetheparkingbrake.Movethefunctionalcontrol
levertomowortransportandtrytostarttheengine.
Theengineshouldnotcrank,whichmeansthatthe
interlocksystemisoperatingcorrectly.Correctthe
problemifitisnotoperatingproperly.
3.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltoNEUTRAL,
movethefunctionalcontrollevertoNEUTRAL,and
engagetheparkingbrake.Starttheengineandmove
thefunctionalcontrollevertoMOWorTRANSPORT.
Theengineshouldstop,whichmeansthattheinterlock
systemisoperatingcorrectly.Correcttheproblemifit
isnotoperatingproperly.
4.Sitontheseat,movethetractionpedaltoNEUTRAL,
movethefunctionalcontrollevertoNEUTRAL,and
engagetheparkingbrake.Starttheengine.Releasethe
parkingbrake,movethefunctionalcontrolleverto
mow,andrisefromtheseat.Theengineshouldstop,
whichmeansthattheinterlocksystemisoperating
