AdjustingtheBrakes
Abrakeadjustmentrodislocatedoneachsideofthemachine
sothatyoucanadjustthebrakesequally.
1.Whilemovingforwardintransportspeed,pressthe
brakepedal;bothwheelsshouldlockequally.
CAUTION
Testingthebrakesinaconnedareawhere
othersarepresentcouldcauseinjury.
Alwayscheckthebrakesinawide,
open-spaced,atareawhichisfreeofother
personsandobstructionsbeforeandafter
adjustment.
2.Ifthebrakesdonotlockequally,adjustthebrakesas
follows:
A.Disconnectthebrakerodsbyremovingthecotter
pinandclevispin(Figure57).

B.Loosenthejamnutandadjusttheclevis
accordingly(Figure57).
C.Assembletheclevistothebrakeshaft(Figure57).
D.Checktheamountoffreetravelofthebrake
pedal.Thereshouldbe13to26mm(1/2to1
inch)travelbeforethebrakeshoesmakecontact
withthebrakedrums.Adjust,ifnecessary,to
achievethissetting.
E.Whilemovingforwardintransportspeed,press
thebrakepedal;bothbrakesshouldlockequally.
Adjustthem,ifnecessary.
Important:Burnishthebrakesannually;refertothe9
BurnishingtheBrakes(page17)section.

AdjustingtheCuttingUnit
Lift/Drop
Thecuttingunitlift/dropcircuitisequippedwitha
ow-controlvalve(Figure58).Thisvalveispresetatthe
factoryatapproximately3turnsopen,butanadjustment
mayberequiredtocompensatefordifferencesinhydraulic
uidtemperatures,mowingspeeds,etc.Ifanadjustmentis
required,proceedasfollows:

Note:Allowthehydraulicuidtoreachfulloperating
temperaturebeforeadjustingtheowcontrolvalve.
1.Raisetheseatandlocatetheow-controlvalveforthe
center-pullframe(Figure58)whichislocatedonthe
sideofthehydraulicmanifold.
2.Loosenthejamnutontheadjustingknobontheow
control.
3.Rotatetheknob1/4-turncounterclockwiseifthe
centercuttingunitisdroppingtoolateor1/4-turn
clockwiseifthecentercuttingunitisdroppingtooearly.
4.Whennished,tightenthesetscrew .
