Mowing
Beforemowinggreens,ndaclearareaandpracticestarting
andstoppingthemachine,raisingandloweringthecutting
units,turning,etc.
Inspectthegreenfordebris,removetheagfromthecup,
anddeterminethebestdirectiontomow.Basethedirection
tomowonthepreviousmowingdirection.Alwaysmowinan
alternatepatternfromthepreviousmowingsothatthegrass
bladeswillbelessapttolaydownandthereforebedifcult
totrapbetweenthereelbladesandthebedknife.
1.Approachthegreenwiththefunctional-controllever
intheMOWpositionandthethrottleatfullspeed.
2.Startononeedgeofthegreensothatyoucanusethe
ribbonprocedureofcutting.
Note:Thisholdscompactiontoaminimumand
leavesaneat,attractivepatternonthegreens.
3.Actuatetheraise/lowermowleverasthefrontedges
ofthegrassbasketscrosstheouteredgeofthegreen.
Note:Thisproceduredropsthecuttingunitstothe
turfandstartsthereels.
Important:TheNo.1cuttingunitreelisdelayed;
therefore,youshouldpracticetogaintherequired
timingnecessarytominimizethecleanupmowing
operation.
4.Overlapaminimalamountwiththepreviouscuton
returnpasses.
Note:Toassistinmaintainingastraightlineacross
thegreenandkeepthemachineanequaldistancefrom
theedgeofthepreviouscut,establishanimaginary
sightlineapproximately1.8to3m(6to10ft)ahead
ofthemachinetotheedgeoftheuncutportionofthe
green(Figure30andFigure31).Somenditusefulto
includetheouteredgeofthesteeringwheelaspartof
thesightline;i.e.keepthesteeringwheeledgealigned
withapointthatisalwayskeptthesamedistanceaway
fromthefrontofthemachine.
5.Asthefrontedgesofthebasketscrosstheedgeofthe
green,movetheraise/lowermowleverrearwardand
holdituntilallthecuttingunitshaverisen.Thiswill
stopthereelsandliftthecuttingunits.
Note:Itisimportanttotimethisstepcorrectlyso
thatyoudonotcutintothefringeareayetcutasmuch
ofthegreenaspossibletominimizetheamountof
grasslefttomowaroundtheouterperiphery.
6.Tocutdownonoperatingtimeandeaselineupfor
thenextpass,momentarilyturnthemachineinthe
oppositedirection,thenturnitinthedirectionofthe
uncutportion;i.e.,ifintendingtoturnright,rstswing
slightlyleft,thenright.
Note:Thiswillassistingettingthemachinemore
quicklyalignedforthenextpass.Trytomakeasshort
ofaturnaspossibleexceptduringwarmerweather
whenawiderarcwillminimizetheturfbruising.
