•Alwaysplacefuelcontainersonthegroundaway
fromyourvehiclebeforelling.
•Donotllfuelcontainersinsideavehicleoron
atruckortrailerbed.
•Whenpractical,removeequipmentfromthe
truckortrailerandrefueltheequipmentwithits
wheelsontheground.
•Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuchequipment
onatruckortrailerfromaportablecontainer,
ratherthanfromafuel-dispensernozzle.
•Ifyoumustuseafuel-dispensernozzle,keepthe
nozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingis
complete.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagetheparking
brake,andshutofftheengine.
2.Usingacleanrag,cleantheareaaroundthefueltank
cap.
3.Removethecapfromthefueltank.
4.Fillthetankuntilthelevelistothebottomoftheller
neckwithfuel.
5.Installthefueltankcaptightlyafterllingthetank.
Note:Ifpossible,llthefueltankaftereachuse.This
minimizespossiblebuildupofcondensationinsidethe
fueltank.
CheckingtheEngine-OilLevel
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwithoilinthecrankcase;however,
checktheoillevelbeforeandafteryoustarttheengine.
Crankcasecapacityis6L(203oz)withthelter.
Usehigh-qualityengineoilthatmeetsthefollowing
specications:
•APIClassicationLevelRequired:CH-4,CI-4orhigher
•Preferredoil:SAE15W-40above-18degreesC(above
0degreesF)
•Alternateoil:SAE10W-30or5W-30(alltemperatures)
ToroPremiumEngineOilisavailablefromyourdistributor
ineither15W-40or10W-30viscosity.
Note:Thebesttimetochecktheengineoiliswhenthe
engineiscoolbeforeithasbeenstartedfortheday.Ifithas
alreadybeenrun,allowtheoiltodrainbackdowntothe
sumpforatleast10minutesbeforechecking.Iftheoillevel
isatorbelowtheaddmarkonthedipstick,addoiltobring
theoilleveltothefullmark.Donotoverll.Iftheoillevel
isbetweenthefullandaddmarks,nooiladditionisrequired.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,shutofftheengine,
engagetheparkingbrakeandremovethekeyfromthe
ignitionswitch.
2.Openthehood.
3.Removethedipstick,wipeitclean,andinstallit(Figure
20).
