Throttle Lever
T he throttle lev er controls the speed of the engine .
Mo ving the throttle lev er forw ard to w ard the F ast
position increases the engine speed. Mo ving it
rearw ard to w ard the Slo w position decreases the
engine speed. T he throttle controls the speed of
the blades and, in conjunction with motion control
lev ers , controls g round speed of the mac hine .
Alw a ys r un the mac hine with the throttle in the
F ast position when cutting g rass .
Power Take Off (PTO) Switch
T he po w er tak e off (PTO) switc h star ts and stops
the mo w er blades .
Hour Meter
T he hour meter records the n umber of hours the
engine has operated. It operates when the k ey
switc h is in the R un position. Use these times for
sc heduling regular maintenance .
Glow Plug Light (Orange Light)
T he glo w plug indicator light tur ns on when the
ignition switc h is tur ned to the On position. It
remains lit for 6 seconds . W hen the light tur ns off ,
the engine is ready to be star ted.
Engine Coolant Temperature Warning
Light
T his light glo ws and the cutting blades stop if the
engine coolant temperature is high. If the mac hine
is not stopped and the coolant temperature rises
another 20° F , the engine will stop .
Important: If the mo w er deck shuts do wn
and the temperatur e w ar ning light is on, push
PT O knob do wn, dri v e to a safe flat ar ea,
mo v e the thr ottle lev er to the Slo w position,
mo v e the motion contr ol lev er s into the neutral
lock ed position, and enga ge the par king
brak e. Allo w the engine to idle f or sev eral
min utes while it cools to a safe lev el. Stop
the engine and check the cooling system;

Charge Indicator
Illuminates when the system c harging circuit
malfunctions .
Oil Pressure Warning Light
T he oil pressure w ar ning light glo ws when the oil
pressure in engine drops belo w a safe lev el. If
lo w oil pressure ev er occurs , stop the engine and
deter mine the cause . R e pair the damag e before
star ting the engine ag ain.
Fuel Gauge
T he fuel g aug e ( Figure 9 ) indicates the quantity of
fuel remaining in the fuel tanks .
