9.4 Checking the Safety Valve
In order to prevent the safety valve from blockage, it is necessary to allow
the steam pressure to escape through it (every month).
On models 2540, 3150, 3850, 3870 the safety valve is located in the water
reservoir.
On models 5050, 5075 the safety valve is located in the rear top side of the
autoclave.
9.4.1 PED-approved type safety valve
1. Operate the sterilization cycle according to the manual.
2. Allow a pressure of approx. 200 kPa (29-psi) to build up in
the chamber.
3. On models 2540, 3150, 3850, 3870 Remove the water
reservoir cover.
4. Turn the pressure relief nut counterclockwise for 2 seconds.
Verify steam escapes from the valve.
Attention:
Use protective gloves in order not to burn your hands with the
hot steam.
5. Press the STOP key to interrupt the operation, and exhaust
steam from the chamber.
6. Wait until the pressure decreases to zero, only then can the
door be opened.
