RESERVE ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
INTRODUCTION
Thissectionprovidesinformationneededtoassemblethereservecanopyand
attachittothereserverisers.TakenotethatallVector3rigsareAADready.
IncludedareinstructionsonattachinganRSL.RememberthoughthataRSLisan
optionalcomponent.
ATTACHING THE RESERVE CANOPY TO THE RESERVE
RISERS
Attachthecanopytotherisersfollowingthecanopymanufacturer’sinstructions.
Doublechecktheorientationofthecanopyandthecontinuityofthelines.Check
thatthelinksaretightenedsecurelyandcorrectly.Followthecanopy
manufacturer’sinstructionsoninstallationofSliderBumpersandSlinks(SoftLinks.
ATTACHING THE RESERVE STEERING TOGGLES
Itisimportanttofollowthereservecanopyowner’smanualdirectionsbefore
attachingthetogglestothesteeringlines.Thereserveowner’smanualcontains
importantinformationrelevanttothatparticularmakeandmodelofreserve
canopy.ThereservecanopysteeringtogglesaresuppliedwiththeVector3.These
steeringtogglesare
compatiblewiththeVector3reserverisers.Itisimportant toattachthesteeringtogglesatthe
markthatislocatedalongthesteeringline.Themarkwasmeasuredandputtherebythereservemanufacturer.
Properalignmentofthemarkandthesteeringtogglewillensurethecanopyremains
inatruenobrakemodewhile
thetogglesarerestingagainsttheguidering.Thiswill,inturn,ensurethatthecanopymaintainsthecorrectglide
duringflightandlanding
Hangingthecanopybythetailhelpsinbothassembling
andins
p
ection.
NOTE
Tominimizethe chanceof
having a malfunction,
ensure that the toggles
and the risers are
compatible.
The standard distance
fromtheendofthereserve
risertothetopoftheguide
ring is 4 inches (102mm)
and allowing ± 1/4inch
(7mm)tolerance.
WARNING
If the toggles are mounted too far down the
steering lines, the canopy may be less
responsiveandthejumpermaynotbeableto
applyfullbrakes.
If the toggles are mounted too high up the
canopy, the glide and landing characteristics
ofthecanopymaybeaffectedor
itmayeven
result in a canopy stall (which could result in
injuryordeath).
The situations mentioned above are more
likely to occur when a canopy is hastily
switched fromone set ofrisers to another. If
the guiderings on bothsets of risers are not
locatedthe
samedistancefromtheconnector
links, the steering toggles must be moved to
anotherlocationonthesteeringline.
