mudormuddywater,cleanthe3‐Ringreleasesystemwithamildsolutionofsoapandwater.Anyrustedcomponents
mustbereplaced.
PROCEDURE FOR PERIODIC MAINTENANCE OF THE BOOTH 3-RING
RELEASE SYSTEM
1. Yearlyorasneeded,operatethe3‐Ringreleasesystemontheground.Extractthecablecompletelyfromthe
housingsanddisconnecttherisers.
2. Whilethesystemisdisassembled,closelyinspectitforwear.Checkthewhitelockingloops(theonesthatpass
overthesmallestringand
throughthegrommet)tobesuretheyarenotfrayed.
3. Checkthehookandloopfasteneronthecutawayhandleandmainliftwebtobesureitiscleanand
adequatelyholdsthehandle.
4. Checkthecableendsfora smoothfinish.Theendsarefinished
atthefactorytohaveasmooth,tapered
surface.Thispreventsthecablefromhangingupintheloop.Checkthecableendsandconsultariggerorthe
manufacturerifaburror“hook”ispresent.
5. Checkthestitching,includingthatwhichholdsthelargeringstothe
harness.
6. Checkthatall3‐Ringreleasehousingsarefirmlyclamped(behind
rightringcoverandunderyoke).Thehousingendslieatthe
cheststraparea,checkforproperstretchbypullingdownward
onthemtoconfirmthattheydon’tmovedownwardsmorethan
½inch.Theend
ofeachhousing(attheendfitting)mustbeeven
withorupto1”(25mm)longerthanthetopofthelargering.
7. Takeeachriserandvigorouslytwistandflexthewebbingnearwhereitpassesthrougheachring.Theideais
toremoveanysetor
deformationinthewebbing.Dothesamethingtothewhiteloop.
8. Checkthehousingsfordentsorotherobstructions.Usethecabletodothis.
9. Cleanandlubricatethereleasecablewithasiliconespray.Sprayonapapertowelandfirmlywipethecablea
few
times.Athin,invisiblefilmshouldremain,toomuchwillattractgritanddirt.
10. Inspecttheendfittingsattheendofeachhousing.Ifoneofthesefittingsweretocomeoffthehousing,a
risermightreleaseprematurely.
11. Ifanywearisfound,consultthe
UnitedParachuteTechnologiesorariggerbeforeusingtheVector3.
12. Reassemblethesystem.Doublecheckitwiththeinstructionsinsection 5ofthismanual.Makesuretherisers
aren’treversed.UnitedParachuteTechnologiesappreciatesandwelcomesanycommentsfromusersthat
relatetothesafety,operationor
maintenanceofthe3‐Ringrelease.
