TRIMMING CUTAWAY CABLES TO MATCH HOUSING LENGTH
There are many different length cutaway cable housings on many different rigs. To
accommodatethesedifferences,cutawayhandlesaremanufacturedwithoverlengthcables.
So thatboth risersleave at thesame timeduring a cutaway, thesecables must becut to
matchthehousingsoftherigonwhichthe
handleistobeinstalled.
Feedthecutawaycablesallthewaythroughbothhousings,andsecurethehandle
inplace.Donothookuptherisers,andmakesurethelonghousingisnotstretched
out.
Measure the cable stickingout of eachhousing from the end of thehousing. Cut
eachcableasfollows:
Eachcableendmustbefinishedbyexposingittoa(lighter)flameforafewseconds, and
thenformingthesoftenedplasticcoatingtoabluntpointusingyourfingers.Thefinished
pointshouldcompletelycovertheinnersteelcablesothatnosharpedgesareexposed.Be
carefulnottooverheatthe
nylonasyoucouldburnyourfingers! Itisalwaysagoodideatoconsultariggerifyouhaveanydoubtabouthowto
safelyaccomplishthisprocedure.

ramaircanopy,youshouldconsider
installingUPTcutawaycablehousings
onyourrisers.Doingsowillallowyou
tocutawaymoreeasilyifyou
experiencelinetwistswhicharesevere
enoughtotwistdownintoyourrisers

WARNING
If an RSL is being used, trim the cable on the side which the RSL is
attachedat7½ inches (±½inch)or 191mm(±12mm)andcutthe
othercableat5½inches(±½inch)or140mm(±12mm).Thisisdone
to
ensurethattherisertowhichtheRSLisattachedwillalwaysleave
last. Make sure there is 2 inches (± ¼ inches) or 50 mm (± 6 mm)
