PIN
The four digit PIN ("Personal Identifica-
tion Number") protects the SIM card from
misuse. The PIN needs to be entered
when the device is switched on. Only
then can the SIM card be fully utilised. If
the PIN is entered incorrectly three times
the SIM card will be locked. To use the
card again you will need the PUK
unblocking key.
PUK
The eight digit PUK ("Personal Unblock-
ing Key") is used to unblock the SIM card
if the Personal Identification Number
(PIN) has been entered incorrectly sev-
eral times (usually three times). The PUK
is not saved in the mobile phone. The
PUK is specific to the SIM card and can
be requested from the manufacturer.

tions available to subscribers. The SIM
card is activated by entering the Per-
sonal Identification Number (PIN).
