Horizontal Line
Deletions
If there are areas of print deletions that appear across the paper:
• The Toner Cartridge may not be installed correctly. Remove and re-install the Toner
Cartridge. (See Customer Replaceable Units on page 90.)
• The Toner Cartridge may be defective or at the end of its life. Replace the Toner
Cartridge. (See Customer Replaceable Units on page 90.)
• The transfer roller may be defective. Replace the transfer roller (contained in the
maintenance kit).
Vertical Line
Deletions
If there are areas of print deletions that form narrow lines:
• The paper may be defective with creases, folds, etc. Replace the paper.
• The Toner Cartridge may be defective or at the end of its life. Replace the Toner
Cartridge. (See Customer Replaceable Units on page 90.)
• The transfer roller may be defective. Replace the transfer roller (contained in the
maintenance kit).
Horizontal Dark
Streaks
If horizontally aligned black lines, streaks or smears appear:
• The Toner Cartridge may be installed improperly. Remove the cartridge and reinsert
it.
• The Toner Cartridge may be defective. Remove the Toner Cartridge and install a
new one. (See Toner Cartridge on page 91.)
• If the problem persists, the machine may require repair. Contact a service
representative.
Vertical Dark
Streaks
If there are black lines that appear vertically on the page:
• The paper path may be contaminated with toner. Print several blank sheets to
remove the toner accumulations.
• The Toner Cartridge may be defective or at the end of its life. Replace the toner
cartridge. (See Customer Replaceable Units on page 90.)
• The fuser may be defective. Replace the fuser (contained in the maintenance kit).
