Outboard Rigging Guide - 2001 705 Flush Side Mount Remote Control Assy.
3. Move the control lever several times from
lock to lock and make sure that when it is
returned to the neutral position the throttle
lever (on the engine side) is set to the fully
closed position. If not in the neutral position,
the cable end (on the engine side) must be
adjusted. Next, push the free accelerator but-
ton, turn the control lever downward until it
stops, then make sure that when it is returned
to the neutral position, the free accelerator
button is automatically reset. If not, the throt-
tle lever (on the engine side) is forced against
the stopper or it is not in the fully-closed
position. Adjust the cables so the free accel-
erator button can reset automatically.
NOTE: The cable joints (on the engine side) must
be screwed in at least 8mm (0.3 in) over the
remote control cables.
4 After connecting the cables to the engine,
move the control lever from lock to lock sev-
eral times and check for good operation of the
engine and remote control box. Next, firmly
secure the remote control box (which is tem-
porarily held with the screws) to the hull.
Check that the cables are not sharply bent (less
than 200mm [7.87 in] in radius) or unnecessar-
ily bent. (The number of bends should be min-
imized.) Also, check that no portions of the
cables are clamped so hard as to deform the
cable outers.
Change from the Push-To-Open
Throttle Type to the Pull-To-Open
Throttle Type
The remote control box permits the change from
the push-to-open throttle type to the pull-to-open
type by changing some of the parts positions.
This manual discusses the procedure for changing
from the push-to-open throttle type to the pull-to-
open type. Therefore, if it has to be changed from
the pull-to-open type to the push-to-open type,
simply reverse the procedure.
When reinstalling parts, apply the Yamaha
Marine Grease to moving parts and contact
surfaces of parts.
