An additional adapter (Part Number 6X1-81950-90) must be used with the 6X1 Dual Station
System if it will be used on YAMAHA Outboard Motors earlier than those listed. The adapter
enables the shift cut system of the actuator to control the CDI unit to reduce engine rpm during
shifting.
For installation details, refer to page 30.
The adapter must be used on all 1989 and earlier models. Otherwise, it could be impossible
to shift out of gear under load because engine rpm may not be reduced during shifting.This
could result in an accident.
