REAR BRAKE

REMOVING THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER
Before disassembling the brake caliper, drain
the brake fluid from the entire brake system.
ECA20981
• Keep any type of magnets (including mag-
netic pick-up tools, magnetic screwdrivers,
etc.) away from the rear wheel sensor or
rear wheel sensor rotor; otherwise, the sen-
sor or rotor may be damaged, resulting in
improper performance of the ABS system.
• Do not drop the rear wheel sensor rotor or
subject it to shocks.
• If any solvent gets on the rear wheel sensor
rotor, wipe it off immediately.
1. Remove:
• Rear wheel sensor
• Rear brake hose union bolt “1”
• Brake hose gaskets “2”
• Rear brake hose (hydraulic unit to brake cali-
per) “3”
• Rear wheel along with caliper
Put the end of the brake hose into a container
and pump out the brake fluid carefully.

INSTALLING THE REAR BRAKE CALIPER
1. Lubricate:
• Rear brake caliper bolt
2. Install:
• Brake pad shims
(onto the brake pads)
• Brake pads
• Rear brake caliper “1” along with rear wheel
• Rear wheel sensor
Refer to “REPLACING THE REAR BRAKE
PADS” in base service manual B97-F8197-
E0 on page 4-35.
• Brake hose gaskets “2”
• Rear brake hose (hydraulic unit to brake cali-
per) “3”
• Rear brake hose union bolt “4”

Proper brake hose routing is essential to in-
sure safe vehicle operation.
ECA19080
When installing the brake hose onto the
brake caliper, be sure to position the brake
pipe “a” touches the projection “b” in the
brake caliper.
Recommended lubricant
Silicone grease
Rear brake hose union bolt (brake
caliper side)
29 N·m (2.9 kgf·m, 21 lb·ft)
