SIGNALING SYSTEM
TROUBLESHOOTING
• Any of the following fail to light: turn signal lights, brake light or indicator lights.
• The horn fails to sound.
• The fuel gauge fails to operate.
• Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s):
1. Passenger and rider seat
2. Left side cover and right side cover
3. Headlight assembly
4. LCD Meter

Check the signaling system
The horn fails to sound.

1. Check the fuse.
Refer to “CHECKING THE FUSES”
on page 6-106
Replace the fuse.
2. Check the battery.
Refer to “CHECKING AND
CHARGING THE BATTERY” in base
service manual B97-F8197-E0 on
page 7-62.
• Clean the battery terminals.
• Recharge or replace the battery.
3. Check the main switch.
Refer to “CHECKING THE
SWITCHES” on page 6-105.
Replace the main switch.
4. Check the entire signaling system
wiring.
Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” in
base service manual B97-F8197-E0
on page 7-17.
Properly connect or repair the signaling
system wiring.
Check the condition of each of the
signaling system circuits. Refer to
“Checking the signaling system”.
1. Check the horn switch.
Refer to “CHECKING THE
SWITCHES” on page 6-105.
The horn switch is faulty. Replace the left
handlebar switch.
2. Check the horn.
Refer to “CHECKING THE HORN” in
base service manual B97-F8197-E0
on page 7-69.
Replace the horn.
